Today’s episode is a conversation with Michael Boidy. Mikey is a filmmaker and speaker focused on the healing powers of sound. In this episode we chat about Mikey’s experience surviving a helicopter crash while filming in Guatemala and his subsequent recovery which included a trip to Burning Man that would influence his current area of focus. We talk about his upcoming documentary Heart Beat and the podcast he is also working on, in addition to exploring some real world examples of how sound is being used to heal various types of problems with the body. We discuss the positive effects of music festivals on personal wellbeing and explore what it is about certain types of music that can be healing. We spend the end of the episode riffing on various things related to sound including sound baths, rock music and more. Included below are some links to various things we talk about in this episode including Mikey’s TedEx talk, which I encourage you to check out for more information about his experience. I think we can all probably relate to having been impacted in one way or another by sound, whether in the form of good music or experiences like sound baths, so it was a lot of fun to get into some of the science behind these things with Mikey.
