In today’s episode, I speak with the father of one of my best friends, Patrick Kilbride, or PK. Patrick Kilbride was a successful sales executive in the hotel industry for 30 years. He moved from Florida to California and finally Hawaii – where he opened the Grand Wailea Resort. He also worked for Hyatt hotels and Ritz-Carlton and was highly trained in customer service. Today, Patrick is an avid volunteer, particularly for children, and he currently serves many non-profit organizations on Maui including Kiwanis Club, Maui Food Bank, The Homeless Resource Center, Waipuna Chapel, Back Pack Buddies and Kid’s Hope. In this episode, we talk about PK’s at times rough childhood, which is detailed in the book “Kick Her Again She’s Irish” by Mary and Colin O’Reiley. We talk about the struggles he faced growing up, the role humor has played in his life, how he managed to overcome the residual effects of his childhood later in life and the things for which he is grateful, among other topics. This was a very fun conversation for me to have and I hope that it can be a source of inspiration for you as we end the year, or whenever you happen to listen to this.
